When I first started searching for apartments in Downtown MSP, Sora was out of my budget. But when I called them they offered me a great deal and Sora fit right in my budget. While touring the place Lorenzo showed us apartments only in my budget and never once did he try to push it onto us. The rooftop was my favorite place and the gym is also beautiful. I am glad their underground parking is affordable and very clean and secure. All the things they offer for the price are surreal even their coffee. I was accepted within 24 hours of applying and Lorenzo made sure to call me and let me know. I didn’t have to pay any additional deposit as well. They have so many amenities to offer, and Lorenzo makes sure to hear you out with whatever you need. Our move was really comfortable because of the loading dock and all the dolly’s they gave us to help us move making our life easy. Overall would recommend this place to anyone wanting to live Downtown.
I was a little skeptical about Sora after reading the reviews, but my experience was quite good. Sora is a beautiful building to live at. The apartments are really nice and have very great finishes throughout. When we applied we did have a few hiccups here and there but the management team was very fast to get back to us. Lorenzo was really nice with everything and even though it was partially bad information, he went above and beyond to try and resolve our issues. Mitch was also trying his best to give us the best deal possible. We are very happy with how everything turned out and look forward to living at Sora.
I applied to Sora Apartments during the first week of June 2022. I was informed by the first leasing agent that if not approved that I would get my $550 back in 5-7 days that was used to secure the unit I chose. They did not approve me and could not give me reason as to why they did not approve me for the apartment. By day 7, I still did not have the funds returned to me and had to call them to be updated by the leasing agent who initially assisted me, that he got his information wrong and the check was going to be sent via mail. 3 weeks later and still ongoing, I have been emailing, calling, and even appearing to the Sora to have my money returned to me and it’s evident that no one knows how to do their job nor do they care to inconvenience their customers. I have been given different days to expect my money to be returned to me via mail and yet, every day that passes, no money. The Sora Apartments in Minneapolis is extremely unprofessional and does not cater to the needs of their customers. They take advantage of those who apply and do little to nothing to resolve any of our concerns. The employees are not properly trained and also give customers the run-around. Be sure to expect me to stay on the Sora Apartments until I receive my refunded amount in full—even with additional compensation for my troubles. DO NOT APPLY HERE.
I recently moved to MN and found out about Sora through staying in the SONDER (basically and Air BnB there). I didn't have a lot of time to find a place so I applied there. Lorenzo who showed me the unit was friendly to speak with. He explained I would have an approval within 18 hours... well... it took about 5 calls and 5 emails within 10 days for them to DECLINE me. Thats fine, I found a nicer place 2 days later that I moved into (which was more expensive by the way) but the kicker is that I had to call their Regional Director Troy to get a straight answer. He told me I would have my refund asap and that the property Manager Mitch would issue it immediately. I followed up constantly as the refund wasn't being reflected in my bank. I called the bank, they confirmed Sora had not issued the refund (2 WEEKS LATER!!!!) - kept emailing Mitch only to get a response each time of "I'm about to start processing it" - It was only after calling Troy back did he MAKE Mitch put the refund back to my card. Avoid this place like the plague, they are poorly run and the apartment building has a hotel in it which after thinking about it is a huge risk. The "property management" there is a joke to say the least.
My experience was that of Peter's, once they got my money, they stopped responding to emails and wouldn't answer my questions. Only when I requested a refund by emailing the email address they are leaving under their reviews did I get a response saying, I believe there was some miscommunication and would like to work this out with you over the phone. I replied with, if I continue to work with you I do expect to be compensated in some way for my troubles. I got a phone call from them saying I was denied because they could not verify my income. I was pre approved for the apartment before even applying. I was so over it that I did not even bring up the fact that they had pre approved me. I still have not received my refund, they are required by law to return the prelease deposit within seven days of denying you. If a landlord violates any requirements of the pre-lease deposit, the prospective tenant may receive the amount of the pre-lease deposit, plus one-half of that amount as a penalty towards the landlord. If they refuse to give you your money back, do a Consumer Assistance Request Form on the Attorney General’s Office website. You may be under new management but your customer service skills are still horrendous. YOU ALL HAD THE RIGHT ADDRESS, YOU DID NOT SEND MY CHECK WITHIN 7 DAYS OF YOU NOT APPORVING ME FOR THE APARTMENT, I APPLIED IN APRIL AND MY CHECK WAS DATED FOR JUNE! STOP GASLIGHTING PEOPLE!
