TLDR: Awesome views of the city and river. Walking distance with direct skyway access to all the recreation activities the city has to offer, (Guthrie theater, Target Field, U.S. Bank Stadium etc...) and a management team that is second to none. I have had the opportunity to live in a downtown setting in multiple large metros in the country, and The Churchill has been my best experience by far. I have been living at The Churchill for nearly a year now and I not only intend to stay, but am so happy with the location, price and how the building is managed I signed an 18 month lease. In my experience the community here has been welcoming, respectful and pet friendly. The rooftop pool and gym have an awesome view of the river and city, and they are enclosed so can be enjoyed 365 days a year. Last, but certainly not least, the building is managed excellently. Rent, utilities and parking options are all straightforward and very reasonable. All in all, Troy and his staff (shoutout to Pam!) have truly gone above and beyond every single time I have needed anything big or small.
Location, convenience, views, package and concierge service and overall the management is great. But the most basic peace and quiet is missing. My job requires me to work from home and since last year summer I have had to bear this constant loud noise of drilling and hammering all day because of maintenance on the exterior façade. I have to run to the party room or conference room to take calls and attend meetings, it’s okay once in a while but not every day.The noise is unbearable and makes you irritable and frustrated. We pay additional cost because our unit has the River view with 2 balconies. However because of this maintenance one balcony is closed and the other one is useless due to dust and noise. There are other issues too, every other day the elevators don’t work. Even inside the apartment either water is dripping or ceiling is peeling off. There is always something. Not the place to live if you need to stay at home the whole time like me or you are old or sick and need to rest.
I have now lived here about a year, sadly a lot of the OG employees are gone, a of the elevators work lately :( plus the construction noise during the day is LOUD. Just today i had a construction worker come into my unit without any notice, Parking has also been spotty and my car has been towed because of it. (New and ever changing) Office staff are useless. The only positive is the front desk workers, and the occasional time the amenities actually work. DO NOT MOVE HERE. I see them replying to reviews saying it was one day that the elevators didn’t work… It’s been several days, over several years. I’ve spoken with residents who have lived in the building for 15+ years and they say it’s a common occurrence. I have walked up and down 31 flights of stairs several times just to let my dog out. Imagine you’re in the middle of a load of laundry (on the first floor) and the elevators give out… I used to enjoy living here, but ever since the office got all new employees it’s horrible. Oh and a random person was sleeping on the couch in the entryway last night… security guards said it was cool. Nice touch.
Fantastic experience at an Airbnb here. Loved the area and views at night
Let me start off by saying that The Churchill is actually one of the few tallest residential buildings left in Downtown Minneapolis. It has many great amenities and luxury renovations despite its age. I have been here for over a year and I can say with confidence that you would love calling The Churchill your home as you have connected skyways, shops and breathtaking views. People complain about Management but I feel that anywhere you live, you’ll complain or find something to complain about. I have had issues but I never let that get in the way of the actual living experience here. Work orders were always done fast, packages are secure, security is on point and Staff is always helpful. This building is about 33 stories high with 370+ units, so I think Management is doing the best they can for a residence this large. You cannot judge a residence, restaurant or anything based on one issue or moment, you should look at the experience as a whole. Overall, I am making a review based on my living experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking for their new home.
