I love living at The Vicinity! I moved here recently from Florida to help my daughter with her new twins. I researched & visited many buildings in downtown Minneapolis. The Vicinity hands down is the best! Beautiful apartments & amenities, easy access to nature, culture & restaurants but best of all is the homey feel & friendly people who live here. The building is well constructed, designed & maintained. The staff is always responsive. Hayden is delightful, pleasant & efficient in his management style. I have always lived in beautiful homes and even though this is a temporary stop for me , it’s exactly what I’d hoped for & way exceeds my expectations!
Living here was disappointing, be prepared to receive several “updates/emails” on a daily basis that have an under tone of a bossy warden. The hot water would ironically go cold every weekend up until a few weeks ago. The last time it happened my family and I showered with cold water on one of the coldest days of winter. One morning an alarm woke everyone up in the building at 1:30am! This was due to a water pipe burst (not their fault), but the alarm sounded for 20min before it was turned off! I was scheduled to wake up 2 hours later for work, needless to say it was a very long day for my family and I. The “update/email” we received after the incident was not apologetic at all...it was written in a manner to imply everyone may not have encountered the same alarm blaring from their apartment. A fire alarm in an empty apartment made noise for a week before they were able to turn it off. Very difficult to sleep that week! Maintenance requests aren’t addressed in a timely fashion. I’ve also encountered sketchy fraudulent activity as it relates to their “ledger” accounts. When meeting with the manager (Hayden) about a concern he will over talk you and deflect. The parking spaces in the garage are small and over priced. The elevators are usually dirty. If your unit is facing the dog park it’s impossible to open your door to enjoy the cool air in peace (day/night) due to constant barking. Other tenants have the same experiences, they’re afraid to speak up because they have been made to feel uncomfortable. All of the five star reviews received here were requested by the manager when tenants initially moved in. Don’t be deceived. The interior of the units are beautiful, new appliances. The amenities are cute, good luck with parking for more than two guests.
Update 7months later....I would give zero stars if I could, this was absolutely the worst experience we’ve had thus far. We ended our lease very early, had to pay two months of rent to break lease and an additional two months of rent. Crazy! Please be aware before considering living here. They will lose your money. The apartments and garage are overpriced. Paid almost $100 one month for electricity for a studio apartment and we were hardly home! Management couldn’t explain the increase in the amount other than the meters were checked, ironically the electricity bill went down to $40 the next month. :( There are a list of things that happened to us while living here that I won’t include. At best this was a learning experience and won’t happen again! My family and I just recently relocated from Florida and we were in the market for a new place. The Vicinity was in our top five for tours. Our first visit instantly felt like home! We were welcomed with open arms by Hayden and Trent, they have made our transition seamless. The Vicinity comes highly recommended! If you’re looking for a cozy apartment with plenty of natural lighting, this is it! Each space is efficiently designed to discourage clutter and encourage community.
Beautiful new building with gorgeous amenities. Management and maintenance are always responsive and helpful. Arguably one of the best parts is the dog park, it's so convenient for the busy, downtown residents of both Vicinity and the neighboring buildings.
Can’t speak for living here. Tried to contact the apartment for a week and never heard back or had anyone respond. Finally chatted on their website with someone who told me they were a live agent, but wasn’t able to schedule anything? He said for sure leasing would contact me but of course that never happened.
